The Religious Roots of Modern Law

Most lawyers are unaware that the origins of today's civil law (contracts, jurisdictional conflicts, etc.) are found in the Gregorian Reforms of the eleventh century.  Lawyer (Yale Law) and Social Thought Committee PhD (University of Chicago), Joseph Simmons, will explain the surprising connection between the assertion of papal authority in the Middle Ages and the modernization of civil law.
