St. Thomas More Society
Dallas, TX
Our annual Red Mass will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Our homilist will be Bishop Thomas Tobin, Bishop of Providence, Rhode Island.
Following the Red Mass there will be a dinner reception at the Dallas Petroleum Club with honoree and speaker Carter Snead, professor at Notre Dame Law School and Director of the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture. Professor Snead is one of the world's leading experts on bioethics. In 2016, he was appointed to the Pontifical Academy for Life, the principal bioethics advisory body to Pope Francis. He is the author of What It Means to be Human: The Case for the Body in Public Bioethics, one of the Wall Street Journal's top ten books in 2020.
The Red Mass invokes the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the securing of justice for the coming year. We encourage all members of the judiciary, law faculty, lawyers, and everyone interested in the rule of law to attend the Red Mass.
We suggest wearing red for the Red Mass (e.g., red ties for men or a red dress or scarf for women).
