Arm in Arm: Natural Law and Civil Rights in the Era of Martin Luther King

  • 05 Nov 2020
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Online

Dr. Susan Hanssen, history professor at the University of Dallas, will speak on the Catholic Church and civil rights. The 1930s, '40s, and '50s saw a revival of Catholic natural law thinking due to an influx of emigres fleeing Nazi and Soviet totalitarianism. They brought to American higher education a renewed appreciation for natural law thinking, which contributed in a fundamental way to the civil rights arguments of Martin Luther King.

There will not be CLE credit offered for this talk.
