How to Live Your Faith in the Workplace (Both Legally and Practically)

Panel discussion on the legal rules and practical tips for sharing your faith in your workplace.   1.0 hour of CLE confirmed.

The four panelists represent perspectives from different types of legal work:

Small-Firm Perspective: Jiroko Lopez, a partner at Schwamkrug, Freshwater & Lopez, PLLC, and D Magazine’s Best Immigration Attorney in 2017.  Jiroko has worked at Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services; has a radio show on Radio Católica Cristo Rey; and frequently speaks about immigration issues through CLEs and programs with the Mexican Consulate and the Dallas Police Department.

Big-Firm Perspective: Bennett Rawicki, a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP specializing in competition law.  Bennett is the pro bono attorney for a Catholic pregnancy care center (Birth Choice); runs several initiatives for the St. Thomas More Society to help attorneys’ spiritual life; and compiled the Prayer Book for Lawyers.

In-House Perspective: Bethany McGaha, UT Southwestern’s Director and Managing Attorney for Healthcare Transactions.  Bethany volunteers at a non-profit urban farm that provides good food, jobs, and hope in South Dallas; supports the human rights work of International Justice Mission, mentors law students, and volunteers at The Village Church – Dallas Northway Campus.

Government Perspective: Paul Hunker, a federal government attorney.  Paul plans all of St. Thomas More Society’s lectures and is a mentor for Optional Work and numerous lawyers, other young professionals, and Univ. of Dallas students.

As lawyers, we’ve chosen a vocation of (usually) non-religious work. As Christians, we are called to do more than just our work.  We are called to love God, love our neighbor, and share the Gospel. Come learn tips on how to live our vocations as sons and daughters of Christ in the place we spend most our time—our jobs.
